Chimney Repair and Construction

Brick Repair
We have developed a system which is extremely efficient for repointing chimneys. On small chimneys coming through the roof, we now quote grinding all the joints on the chimney. This aesthetically looks better as all the joints match, assures us that you won’t be calling us back in a few years to fix the ones we didn’t grind out, and gives your chimney an extended life. Our system makes this affordable to do as it doesn’t take us much extra time and creates a much better result.

New Construction
We can help design and build both masonry chimneys and wood-framed chimney chases to enclose Class A chimneys. We work closely with you in order to give you the heating system which most suits your individual needs, whether it is heating efficiency, aesthetics, no mess, ease of use, backup heat, etc. Then we design the system to be placed in the best possible location of your home for both efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the construction costs.

We would rather provide you with a consultation and educate you on all your options and explain the different consequences, and not get the job than to come out after you had it built and wish you did it a different way!!

Waterproofing
We treat your chimney with a coat of high-quality water repellant. We use ChimneySaver water repellant. One application of ChimneySaver? will protect your chimney for 10 years. This product is superior to other sealers as it allows the chimney to breathe. Moisture is able to escape out of the chimney but not get in. This is different from other standard sealers sold that don’t allow the masonry to breathe.

Crown Pouring
We remove the old crown and pour a new one. We pour ours with an overhang past the chimney to allow water to drip away from the chimney as opposed to doing a crown wash, which has no overhang.

Stainless and Copper Chase Covers

We fabricate custom stainless steel (lids) to seal the top of the chimney from the elements. We use these both on the construction of wooden chimney chases as well as a solution to broken masonry crowns. These are currently our favorite solutions for the following reasons:
1. They don’t rust (like metal or galvanized metal)
2. They don’t crack (like concrete)
3. They are quicker to install (fewer labor dollars for you)
4. Less mess and potential of hurting your shingles.

Flashing
We can replace the flashing in cases which it is needed and also use a product called Flash Seal. Flash Seal is a paintable product similar to roof tar but is used in conjunction with a mesh that holds it together.

Rebuild
Sometimes it is just necessary to rebuild the whole chimney.
We often see this with chimneys venting gas appliances with no liners as the flue gasses are very corrosive and corrode the mortar joints from the inside out at the same time the weather is corroding them from the outside in. (Usually, the chimney looks like a Jenga game when we get there.)
